Hamaseh Sorooshian wasnt tall enough had brown hair and big hips when she first applied to compete in Miss Massachusetts USA 2017, yet she became the face of America.This weekend’s competition will mark her debut to ever being competed in a pageant.Bella Sera Bridal is the official sponsor of Miss Massachusetts, as well as Miss Maine and Miss New Hampshire.
She is a 21-year-old Iranian-American from Northern California who practiced for 10 months in walking in heels and rehearsed her 20-second answers to potential interview questions with her coach 2006 Miss International winner Suzy Bootz, and building her “True to You” brand advocating “beauty from within.”She feels that every women should participate ,empower themselves, to really love themselves and accept themselves and not worry about how they look.
She has been battling her body dysmorphia, anxiety and depression for past 10 years, yet she is competing on a platform of self-love and body positivity. She also launched a GoFundMe campaign that, in addition to covering her competition fees, has raised over a thousand dollars to help homeless children in Boston and Iranian and Afghan refugees in Sacremento, California, through two organizations she volunteers with.
She feels like pageants force girls to take power over themselves on both the positive and negative sides ,it helps in being in control , being proactive ,it helps to learn about ourselves and grow as a person.
