Lipstick under my Burkha – The Feminist Movement with a Metaphor- Burkha


Lipstick under my Burkha is Alankrita Shrivastava’s film. The trailer gives an insight of four women’s lives. A precision of four women from different age groups who just want to throw the Burkha and breathe easy. The film is produced under Prakash Jha Productions and will give a more clear way of women’s thinking on living a free life, a life they always wanted to live of hidden desires.

Lipstick under my Burkha is a full-blown chick flick serving up all the clichés and blissfully ticking all the boxes one by one. There are four women from different generations lunging for some solid tumble in the hay with strangers.

Ratna Pathak Shah, Konkona Sen Sharma Ahana Kumra and Plabita Borthakur of different age groups- all in the mood to throw caution to the winds, surreptitiously buy and use lipstick  discuss condoms with their partners and with their gal pals, and have a smoke with the gal pals when the lights are out.

Lipstick under my Burkha promises to give the New Indian Woman a new look under the Burkha and once the Burkha is removed, she is ready to take steps ahead.

The film also stars Vikrant Massey, a very talented actor, Sushant Singh Rajput and others.

The trailer has set the temperature high as well as soaring and the film when hit the screens will definitely get the points.

The film was also premiered at Tokyo and Mumbai Film Festivals.
